Ireland's majority genre is rock and pop and Ireland can today be counted to one of many worldleaders of producing it. Famous bands and artists from Ireland are for example U2, Van Morrison, Enya, Sinead O'Connor, Westlife, The Undertones and The cranberries among others.

Even though rock and pop are taking over more and more, 20% of the Irish people still votes for the Irish folk music. Irish folk music are still preformed but the lyrics are often translated from the traditional Gaelic language to English so more people can understand it. Focus is often kept on the simpel melody.
