Saint Patrick's Day

2011-05-09 @ 16:03:31
Saint Patrick's Day is a christian holiday celebrated widly and not only by the Irish on 17 March. It has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks, leprechauns, luck and alcohol. All summed up; St. Patricks Day is a happy feast with music, laughter and most common parades.

But who was Saint Patrick?

St. Patrick lived from about (many different opinions about this one..) 390 AD. to 461 AD. He is known as the man bringing christianity to Ireland, saving the Irish nation from paganism and driving all the snakes out (according to legend). It is true that Ireland don't have snakes, but now we know Ireland probably never had snakes to begin with, but many people still belive it was thanks to St. Patrick.
